Without Batman, the Joker probably would cease to exist as a villain. The Clown Prince of Crime obsesses over the Caped Crusader as he famously told Batman in The Dark Knight that "you complete me." So, what would happen to the Joker if Batman died and Joker had no one to obsess over? He'd get a brand new job... at the DMV.
